Emergency Department Technician
Responsible for rendering technical patient care and assistance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Comprehensive Emergency Services: UVA Healths Emergency Department is a 75-bed Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center. As a regional referral center, the UVA ED sees patients from throughout Virginia, as well as from West Virginia and Tennessee. This department cares for complex patients throughout the age spectrum. Treatment for burns, broken bones, acute illnesses, and pain unresponsive to over-the-counter medicine. - Experience: No experience required
- Licensure: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required. For Non-Certified team members hired prior to May 11, 2026, certification is notrequired, as relevant experience will be accepted in its place.

- Certified Nursing Assistantin the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Emergency Medical Technicianin the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Military Corpsmen/Medic(Combat Medic Specialist /Tactical Combat Casualty Care/Tactical Paramedic)NREMT certificationorTactical Responder Certification
- LPN licensein the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Graduate of a certified nursing program
- PatientCareTechnicianCertification, preferred National Center of Competency Testing
- Currently enrolled student nurses who have successfully completed the Clinical Experience and Didactic

Physical Demands Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, humidity, cold, heat, radiation, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids, infectious disease, noise and dust. Onboarding Requirements Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen. The starting base rate for this role is $16.37 hourly.
