Position Summary:

The Senior Operations Research Analyst will apply operations research, mathematical modeling, and other methods to support the development, and interpretation of information to assist organizational leaders with decision-making, policy formulation, and various managerial functions. Collects and analyzes data and develops decision support software, services, or products using the latest technology. Leads with team members to conduct research studies to optimize work processes and enhance operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Analysis

• Applies knowledge of operations research, mathematics, and analytical techniques to assigned work
• Seeks clarification of management objectives as necessary and develops project plans to meet those objectives
• Works with team members to perform analyses
• Leads and directs other analyst in the performance of a variety of tasks in support of assigned projects
• Leads and mentors analysts and assigns special research tasks designed to utilize and enhance knowledge of work processes
• Prioritizes projects and assigns tasks to analysts in support of projects
• Assists with studies to evaluate, inform, and improve decision-analytic models

Communication

• Document problem analysis using analytical models, simulations, or other decision-support systems
• Prepares briefings, papers, and summaries necessary to achieve organizational goals and objectives
• Deliver presentations to customers and peers on ideas, techniques, and results

Innovation

• Seek and share creative solutions to problems

Technical Expertise

• Stays abreast of emerging technologies and professional developments to remain current in the field

Qualifications:

Required:

• BA/BS degree in operations research, mathematics, industrial engineering or related field
• 10+ years of experience applying scientific methods and techniques to analyze systems
• Fundamental knowledge to apply scientific methods and techniques to analyze systems and software
• Knowledge in DoD systems, weapon subsystems design, or military operations is preferred
• Experience with R, Python, Excel VBA, MATLAB, SAS and JAVA or JMP
• Experience developing and utilizing analytical models via languages such as Python, R and C++
• Ability to analyze and interpret problems and to recommend effective solutions
• Quickly learn and understand major functions of clients supported and problem domains of interest
• Shows initiative by learning and (where able) applying new technologies
• DoD Secret clearance
